JABBERBLABBER IS GREEN!
Printed on recycled paper using natural inks.
Regional family publication Jabberblabber went green to celebrate its seventh year in circulation and help bring attention to an important issue. The magazine, created by local design firm Graffiti Graphics, features a cartoon character named Jabberblabber who helps children and the adults in their lives cultivate their imagination and creativity through art. As part of the new focus on conservation and responsible living, the March 08 issue -- and all succeeding issues -- will contain earth-friendly arts and activities.
"We felt it was our responsibility as publishers to include education about conservation and sustainable living in Jabberblabber," Publisher and Co-Creator Theresa Andreuccetti said. "We want kids and families to be green – just like Jabberblabber."
Andreuccetti, along with Nikki Schröeder and Ben Voorhies, developed Jabberblabber magazine in 2001. The trio recognized a need in the area for a children and families' publication focused on fostering arts and creative activities and created Jabberblabber to fill the void. Today, the magazine has a circulation of 30,000 and is distributed for free throughout West Tennessee and parts of Mississippi.
"Jabberblabber has been green for years," Andreuccetti said. "Our goal is to help children and the adults in their lives understand that it makes sense to save energy. It helps the earth and it helps your pocket book."
With the added emphasis on going green, each issue of Jabberblabber will feature earth-friendly activities, sponsored by local businesses. The activities will still be fun and creative, but will also involve recycling, conservation and include an element of teaching readers what they can do to help participate in tackling the energy crisis.
Sponsors are lining up to help spread this message. "We have a great list of supporters who agree with us and are ready to be featured in upcoming issues." Local businesses including Baskin Robbins, the City of Memphis Public Works Storm Water Program, MLGW and Shaklee Corporation are among those who are already signing on to support Jabberblabber's green initiative.
